Description: Since 1991, in Lithuania legal regulation of cultural heritage protection and the public administrations of this area have been changed several times. Current situation does not fully ensure proper protection of cultural heritage and effective provision of services for residents in the area of cultural heritage protection. Therefore, study of legal acts governing the protection of cultural heritage and the functions of institutions working with the protection of cultural heritage is being carried out. The goal of this study is to present recommendations for improving of legal background and institutional structure ensuring that residents would receive high quality services in the most effective way. The study of the functions of institutions acting in the area of protection of cultural heritage and respective recommendations were prepared by Smart Continent.
